750ml South African Single Grain Whisky

The Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky limited-release series elevates the World’s Best Grain Whisky to new heights, combining the innovation of the whisky team with the unique influence of South Africa’s warm climate, sun-kissed grain and wine casks. Inspired by the heritage of South Africa’s iconic Pinotage grape varietal first cultivated by Abraham Izak Perold in 1925, this rare 23-year-old single grain whisky is truly remarkable.

Crafting & Maturation:
The whisky matured for 15 years in ex-Bourbon casks, followed by two years in Pinotage wine casks and an additional seven years in ex-Bourbon casks. The Pinotage wine casks originate from the iconic Nederburg Wine Estate which as the crow flies, is less than 10km’s from the James Sedgwick Distillery, home of South African Whisky. The result is a whisky of exceptional depth. Lush red fruit seamlessly blends with the buttery sweet, spiciness of the grain whisky delivering a long, lingering and exquisitely smooth finish.

Tasting Notes:
The Pinotage cask influence shines through in the whisky’s deep amber hue, leading to a rich palate of ripe red fruits, earthy undertones, honey and sweet vanilla, complemented by hints of oak and tobacco.  Layers of lingering smoke, pepper, banana and vanilla unravel into a smooth, creamy finish.
