The Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky limited-release series elevates the World’s Best Grain Whisky to new heights, combining the innovation of the whisky team with the influence of South Africa’s warm climate, sun-kissed grain and wine casks. The oldest Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky launched to date, the rare 23-year-old Chardonnay wine cask release has an impressive maturation journey.

Crafting & Maturation:
The whisky spent three years in first-fill ex-Bourbon casks followed by 15 years in a fresh set of first-fill casks before finished for five years in seasoned Chardonnay French Oak. 
The Chardonnay wine casks originate from the iconic Nederburg Wine Estate which as the crow flies, is less than 10km’s from the James Sedgwick Distillery, home of South African Whisky. 
The Chardonnay wine casks lend a luxurious creaminess, depth and layers of citrus and stone fruit to Bain’s signature sweet, spicy and remarkably smooth character.

Tasting Notes:
Luminous golden straw in colour, the whisky is inviting with citrus, vanilla and earthy undertones blending seamlessly with the caramel and cereal notes of the grain whisky. Full-bodied and beautifully textured, the palate reveals honey, ripe stone fruit, and lingering hints of leather, freshly ground black pepper and liquorice on the exceptionally smooth finish.
