OUR GRAIN BILL

Our grain bill features yellow maize, sorghum, rye, and barley. Yellow Maize is locally sourced from Mpumalanga, South Africa. Once exported to Scotland for whisky production. Sorghum is a vital African crop, farmed for over 5,000 years. Used in traditional beers like Chibuku (Zambia), Pito (Ghana), and umqombothi (South Africa).
PRODUCTION PROCESS

Grains are mashed, fermented using African yeast, and distilled in copper pot stills to produce the spirit.
BARREL AGING

We use reconditioned ex-red wine barrels, stored for 3-5 years in KwaZulu-Natal’s tropical climate, which accelerates the aging process.

TASTING NOTES
Nose: Warm and inviting with hints of caramel, vanilla, and subtle spice, reminiscent of bourbon’s signature sweetness.
Palate: Smooth and full-bodied, with notes of roasted nuts, brown sugar, and a touch of honey creating a balanced sweetness.
Mid-Palate: A wave of spice emerges: cinnamon, clove, and a hint of black pepper, adding complexity to the initial sweetness.
Finish: Long and warming, with lingering notes of toasted oak, dark chocolate, and a subtle smoky undertone.
Overall: Comparable to a quality bourbon, with a unique African twist. Perfect for whiskey
enthusiasts looking for something familiar yet distinct.
