La Chouffe is a Belgian blonde ale from Brasserie d'Achouffe in the Ardennes, recognisable by its red-hatted gnome. Unfiltered and refermented in the bottle, it is lightly hazy with a lively head and a subtle seasoning of coriander. Fruity, spicy and gently hoppy, it shows notes of citrus and pepper over a soft, rounded malt body, and is stronger than a typical lager. Pour carefully into a tulip glass and pair with cheese or mussels.
