The Chocolate Block is one of South Africa's best-known red blends, made by Boekenhoutskloof in Franschhoek. Led by Syrah, it also draws on varieties such as Grenache, Cinsault and Cabernet Sauvignon, with grapes sourced largely from the Swartland. The wine is rich and full-bodied yet supple, with dark berries, spice, savoury herbs and a hint of cocoa. A superb match for slow-cooked lamb, steak and game.
