Nikka Yoichi is the single malt of Nikka's first distillery, founded in 1934 on the Hokkaido coast, Japan's northernmost island. Yoichi still heats its pot stills directly over coal, a rare traditional method that gives a robust, characterful spirit. Malts of various ages, with a large share matured in ex-sherry casks, are blended to balance gentle peat smoke and coastal notes with ripe fruit and floral aromas.
