Hamilton Russell Vineyards Chardonnay comes from the family-owned estate in the cool, maritime Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Hermanus, one of South Africa's most celebrated sources of Burgundian-style wines. Grown on stony, clay-rich soils and fermented and matured in French oak, it is restrained and mineral rather than showy. Expect citrus, white stone fruit and subtle nutty, toasty notes with fine acidity and a long finish. Excellent with seafood and poultry.
