Boplaas, the family-run estate in Calitzdorp in the Klein Karoo, is better known for its port-style wines and brandies, but also crafts small-batch whisky. This single grain whisky is matured in former bourbon casks, giving a smooth, medium-bodied spirit with evolving sweetness. Expect buttery toast and dried fruit on the palate, finishing dry with subtle oak. Boplaas recommend enjoying it with a splash of cool water.
