Aperol is the classic Italian aperitivo, first created in Padua in 1919. Its bright orange colour and bittersweet flavour come from an infusion that includes bitter and sweet orange, rhubarb and gentian root. Light and refreshing, it is best known as the star of the Aperol Spritz, mixed with prosecco and a splash of soda over plenty of ice and served with a slice of orange.
