Description

Caol ila distillery was established in 1846 by Hector Henderson. The distillery is located near Port Askaig, on the Island of Islay and is one of eight distilleries on the Island. Caol ila meaning ‘Sound of Islay’ was demolished in 1972, rebuilt and reopened in 1974 and is presently under the Diageo portfolio and one of the five malt whisky blends used in the production of Bell’s Whisky.

The Prince of Wales decanter, was released in 1998 to commemorate Prince Charles 50th Birthday, born in November 1948, Buckingham Palace.

He is alternatively known in Scotland as the Duke of Rothesay and in south west England, as the Duke of Cornwall.
